TBPO softball on the home stretch

There were wins for Combine Rangers, Country Meet Town Outa Trouble, Sunset Strikers, RSVG Police and Dr Thomas Injectors in the National Lottery Authority T B P O 20/20 softball cricket competition last weekend at the Dauphine Playing Field.

Combine Rangers got the ball rolling on Saturday, with a seven-wicket win over Bank of SVG All Stars.

Reduced to 10 overs, because of a late start, All Stars made 88 for 5 from their 10 overs.

Asquith Mapp, who scored 29, and Kelly Murray, 24, were All Stars principal scorers, while bowling for Combine Rangers, Keithly Gordon had 2 for 15 and Clarence Roberts, 2 for 18.

Combine Rangers response was 89 for 3, winning off the last ball. They were taken over the line by Keith Gibson, who scored 32 not out and Keroy Roberts, 27 not out.

In Saturday’s other match, which was a 17-over affair, Outa Trouble outpaced Gairy’s Construction Simple Boyz by 23 runs.

Outa Trouble scored 119 for 8 in 17 overs. Richie Richards scored 34 not out and Imran Samuel, 32.

Bowling for Simple Boyz, Stein Joseph had 3 for 21, Keneal Skinner, 2 for 16 and Colbert Simon, 2 for 21.

Simple Boyz’ reply was 96 for 7 from their 17 overs.  Jabarri Cunningham made 40 and Stein Joseph, 22.

Bowling for Outa Trouble, Richie Richards took 3 for 21.

Sunday’s first match was decided by the default route, as Sunset Strikers got easy points from a no show from Challengers.

Then RSVG Police earned a 15-run win over Fairbaine United Spartans.

Batting first, RSVG Police made 120 all out in 16.5 overs. Saleem George scored 40 not out and Andrew Thomas, 36.

Bowling for Fairbaine United Spartans, Joel Browne took 3 for 9, Rokeem Roberts, 2 for 26 and Damian James, 2 for 31.

In reply, Fairbaine United Spartans scored 105 for 8 in 20 overs.

Javed Cordice scored 25, while for RSVG Police, Andrew Thomas picked off 3 for 22 and Kenroy Martin, 2 for 20.

And, Dr Thomas Injectors got past Clinchers by 24 runs in a match played over 10 overs because of a late commencement.

Dr Thomas Injectors registered 100 for 2 in 10 overs. Wendell Corridon stroked 38 and Ronike Daniel, 31.

Clinchers were cornered at 76 for 6 from their 10 overs. Desron Spring registered 27. Bowling for Injectors, Desroy Lavia scalped 2 for 17.
