Smashers record double wins in Greiggs softball cricket

Bruce Law Chambers Smashers Inc. scored double wins last Sunday at the Greiggs Central Playing Field, in the men’s 20/20 of the Hairoun/ FLOW/ Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem softball cricket competition.

Smashers’ first triumph came at the expense of Fairbane United Spartans.

Glendon James hit a top score of 40, as Smashers got to 139 all out in 19 overs.

Bowling for Fairbaine United Spartans, Damian Davis took 3 for 24 and Kenroy Delplesche had 3 for 29.
 
Fairbane United Spartans’ batting faltered badly, dismissed for 43 in 12.3 overs. Only Glenson Guy’s 12 was any score of note.

St Clair Dickson grabbed 4 for 7 and Keno Matthews, 3 for 12, bowling for Smashers, who came away victors by 96 runs.

Smashers then outclassed Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem by eight wickets.

Batting first, Nar Fren Dem scored 82 all out from 19.5 overs. Zidane Sam scored 28.

Their batting was unravelled by the bowling of Linton Peters, who bagged 5 for 12.

Smashers responded with 87 for 2 in just 6.4 overs. Glendon James lashed 35 not out and Delarno Woodley, 30 not out.

Sunday’s other match resulted in a six-wicket win for Bank of SVG All Stars against Extreme Strikers.

Chasing 91 to win, All Stars posted 94 for 2 from 10.4 overs, with Glenroy Pope making 34.

Bowling for Extreme Strikers, Mick Jr Pope took 2 for 18.

Extreme Strikers had batted first and were dismissed for 90 in 18 overs. Glenroy Dasent led Extreme Strikers’ batting with 34.

Ron Adams was the pick of All Stars’ bowling, taking 3 for 4, and Kelique Samuel stepped in with 2 for 11.
