Roderick John hits a century in TBPO softball cricket

A Roderick John even century, 100 not out, led the defending champion of the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation competition CGM Gallagher Novice to victory over RSVG Police by 58 runs, on Sunday at the Dauphine Playing Field.

John’s innings, along with 34 from Zane Edwards, saw Novice posting 203 for 5 from their 20 overs.

Bowling for RSVG Police, Andrew Thomas took 2 for 7.

RSVG Police were dismissed for 145 from their 20 overs. Saleem George scored 37, Renford Jack, 25, and Kenroy Martin, 20.

Uroy Farrell, who picked off 3 for 26, Dante Williams, 3 for 46 and Newborne Joseph, 2 for 29, were Novice’s most successful bowlers.

Also on Sunday, Clinchers outdid CDC/ Lotto by 45 runs.

Clinchers batted first and made 108 all out in 18.2 overs. Donelson Harry scored 23.

Minfel Jack took 3 for 16, Desron Theobalds, 2 for 22 and Dyke Cato, 2 for 23, bowling for CDC/Lotto, who was dismantled for 63 in 17.3 overs. Dyke Cato was topscorer with 18, while Keymo Browne scalped 4 for 9 and Okeiph Andrews had 3 for 4.

In the other match on Sunday, Fairbaine United Spartans won by default over Bank of SVG All Stars.

On Saturday, Country Meet Town Outa Trouble and New Level, triumphed against Challengers and Combined Rangers, respectively.

In the first encounter, Challengers scored 104 for 9 from their 20 overs, with Otis Hector’s 39, being the topscore.

Davian Barnum had 3 for 9, Asif Hooper, 2 for 11 and Richie Richards, 2 for 13, bowling for Outa Trouble.

Saski Weekes then slammed 53, as Outa Trouble replied with 108 for 5, winning off the last ball of the 20th over.

Bowling for Challengers, Kerwyn Browne had 2 for 9 and Carl Thomas, 2 for 21.

Then, New Level outplayed Combined Rangers by 74 runs.

Reduced to 17 overs, New Level posted 171 for 6 from their allotment. Rawdon Bentick, who scored 59 and Marvin Harry, 33, were the main contributors.

Keroy Roberts picked off 5 for 33, bowling for Combined Rangers.

In reply, Combine Rangers made 97 all out in 16.4 overs, undone by the bowling of Kenneth Lewis, who took 2 for 12, Colin Lee, 2 for 14 and Anthony John, 2 for 19.

 Carvolon Simmonett, with 20, was Combine Rangers’ topscorer.
