St Vincent Grammar School gives good account at Penn Relays

 

THE ST VINCENT Grammar School finished with an overall ranking of 214th and 47th, in the boys 4 x 100 and 4 x 400m respectively, at the Penn Relays, which ended Saturday at the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, the USA.

The Grammar School’s quartet clocked 44.92 seconds in the 4x 100, and 3 minutes 22.18 seconds in the 4 x 400m.

Representing the St Vincent Grammar School in the 4x 100m were Zwicka Charles, Jadyn Delpesche, Jevonie Lavia, and Javon Rawlins, while in the 4 x 400, the quartet included Lavia, Ethan Myers, Handal Roban and Zwicka Charles.

The Grammar School’s time in the 4x 400m bettered the 3 minutes 22 seconds done in 2017.

However, this was not the case in the 4x 100m, as last year, the Grammar School’s time was 44.30 seconds.

Meanwhile, another Vincentian school – the Thomas Saunders Secondary, represented by Inglis Daniel, Joel Jack, Uroy Ryan and Dawson Samuel, clocked 45.13 seconds in the 4x 100m, while Daniel, Jack, along with Kee Juan Chance and Micah Glasgow, timed 3 minutes 30.16 seconds in the 4x 400m.

Thomas Saunders obtained a rank of 245th in the 4 x 100m and 210th in the 4 x 400m A total of 573 schools contested the 4 x 100 and 533 were in the 4x 400m of the male events.

In the female segment, Thomas Saunders Secondary, represented by Tiwanny John, Aaliyah Jordan, Zamesha Myle and Kaylia Edwards, did 4 minutes 06.94 seconds in the 4 x 400m, to be overall 135th, from 611 schools.

Thomas Saunders Secondary School began St Vincent and the Grenadines representation back in 2011, and has been doing so each year ever since.

For the St Vincent Grammar School, this year marked their second visit to the famed relays, which began in 1895. The St Vincent Grammar School, debuted at the Penn Relays last year.
