United Survivors, JG Tigress share women’s cricket spoils
United Survivors and JG Tigress finished level on 50 points, in the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Incs 40-over womenâs cricket competition.
The two arch rivals had five wins and one loss each. Their losses were against each other, as the four teams played two rounds.
Sharing the competition was always on the cards when the last round of matches was played last Saturday.
A win by default by JG Tigress over Radcliffe Girls at the Stubbs Playing Field and a 98-run win by United Survivors, with Super Strikers at the losing end at the Park Hill Playing Field, ensured that there were no hiccups.
Last yearâs champions United Survivors posted 204 for 1 from 30 overs, as the match was reduced because of a late start.
Samantha Lynch, who stroked 89 not out and Cordel Jack, 76 not out, took advantage of Super Strikersâ numerical disadvantage, as they fielded eight players.
In reply, Super Strikers were dismissed for 106 from 17.5 overs. Juliana Nero led with 26, while Cordel Jack revelled in the ball too, scalping 4 for 19.
Meanwhile, 24 players have been named in a training squad for possible selection to the St Vincent and the Grenadines team for the Windward Islands tournament, set for Dominica, from April 12 to 22.
