Smashers, Radcliffe Too reach First Division semis

Smashers and Radcliffe Too have made it through to the semi-finals of the National Lotteries Authority First Division of the national cricket programme.

The two recorded wins last Sunday, with Smashers having a 16-run win over Ruddy’s Electrical Unique Warriors at Arnos Vale Two and at the Stubbs Playing Field, Radcliffe Too beat Combine Youths by eight wickets.

Smashers posted 155 all out, including 34 extras, from 22.3 overs. Kirton Lavia struck 42.

Bowling for Unique Warriors, Joseph Medford claimed 4 for 39 and Isaac Haywood had 4 for 41.

In reply, Unique Warriors’ innings ended at 139 all out from 40.1 overs.

Joelano Neil scored 24, while 25 extras propped Unique Warriors’ insufficient response.

Leading the bowling for Smashers was Darren Russell, who picked off 4 for 29. Kirton Lavia had 2 for 1 and Kensworth Lewis, 2 for 34.

And, Combined Youths, asked to bat, managed 113 for 9 from 27.4 overs.

Topping Combined Youths’ batting was Romando Mars, who struck 26.

Shorn Browne, who took 4 for 39 and Kensley Joseph, 3 for 36, were the most successful bowlers for Radcliffe Too.

Calvert King then belted 44 not out and Shorn Browne, 27, which saw Radcliffe Too across the line at 114 for 2 from 16.5 overs.

The next quarter-final match is set for this Sunday, when Keegan’s Bequia XI play E & J Robertson Construction North Windward Youths at the Arnos Vale Two.

Police One and Edward Conliffe Belfongo face off in the final quarter-final, slated for April 8, at the Stubbs Playing Field.
