Four new faces join seasoned SVGNA administrators

Four new faces, in Geshell Peters – second vice-president, Ruth Ann Williams – secretary, as well as Skiddy Francis-Crick – public relations officer and Oneil Cockburn – committee member, have joined the St Vincent and the Grenadines Netball Association.

The four were elected last Thursday at the association’s Annual General Meeting, convened at the Thomas Saunders Secondary School.

Peters, a former national player, in securing her position, displaced Sylvorn Harry, who held the post since 2014. Wollis Christopher was also defeated by Peters.

But in the case of Williams, a former St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-23 captain and current senior team player, her election did not go to a vote, as she was installed unopposed.

Williams’ election was done in her absence, as she was reported to be unwell and unable to attend the meeting.

Like Williams, another current national player, Skiddy Francis-Crick, who now controls the public relations of the association, had to oust Dianne Questelles.

The other debutant on the executive, Cockburn, and seasoned administrator Cheryl Alexander were chosen as the two committee members. They were elected ahead of Julia Matthews, Dianne Questelles and Shenica Haynes.

The newcomers will combine with those who have previously served the association in charting the course of the sport for the next two years.

One such person is Doris Mc Intosh, who remains as president, as she continues uninterrupted for another term. Mc Intosh was the lone nominee for the position.

Mc Intosh’s understudy, Natasha Stapleton, returns to the executive as first vice-president, a post she previously held under then president Dellarice Duncan. Stapleton was unopposed at last Thursday’s elections.

Also elected unopposed was treasurer Neteko Quammie, who adds two more years on his stewardship, after his maiden stint, which began in 2016.

The executive is completed by Thelma Foster, who is the games secretary. Foster had the approval of the affiliates when she outscored Oneil Cockburn, as the two squared off for the post.
