First Division cricket competition moving on

Police One, Smashers and Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO all recorded wins last Sunday in the National Lotteries Authority First Division of the national cricket set-up.

Police One beat Ruddy’s Electrical Unique Warriors by 69 runs at Buccament.

Antonell Browne – 29, Parnell Browne – 27 and Kenroy Williams – 25 were the main contributors in Police One’s 165 all out from 30.5 overs.

Bowling for Unique Warriors, Reginald Jeffrey had 3 for 40, Samuel Holder had 2 for 14, William Edwards – 2 for 19 and Joseph Medford – 2 for 29.

Unique Warriors’ reply stopped at 96, with Brent Ollivierre, the top scorer, making 23.

Vertil Davis popped 4 for 21 and Kemrick Westfield had 4 for 37, bowling for Police One.

Meanwhile, Smashers’ comprehensive eight-wicket win was achieved at Arnos Vale Two versus Belfongo.

Dean Browne led Belfongo’s total of 134 all out from 21.4 overs, with a knock of 65.

The wickets were shared by Javid Harry who had 4 for 12; Darren Russell – 3 for 35 and Kensworth Scott – 2 for 31.

Smashers then took 15.1 overs to get to the winning margin of 135, for the loss of two wickets. Kirton Lavia stroked 60 and Kuthbert Springer scored 36.

And, at Park Hill, ASCO trumped over Strike Eagles by 128 runs.

ASCO, on the back of Ranjell Small’s 94, Adonis Nanton – 45 and Kenville Sam – 38, posted 254 all out in 35 overs.

Strike Eagles’ most successful bowlers were Adrian Stapleton, who took 4 for 55 and Darren John, 2 for 47.

But only Edwarth Lewis’ 48 was any score of note, as Strike Eagles dipped to be held to 126 for 9 from 20 overs.

Their batting was undone by the bowling of  Kenson Dalzell, who had 2 for 15, Nelron Shortte – 2 for 30 and Damion Allen – 2 for 31.

This Sunday, ASCO and Smashers play at Buccament and at Sion Hill, Combined Youths face Keegan’s  Bequia XI, two group A matches.(RT)
