Dillon Douglas benefits from Mark Audain’s generosity  

Promising young Vincentian cricketer Dillon Douglas is at ease when representing his local club Team Rivals in competitions of the 2018 national cricket programme.

This after he was the beneficiary of a donation of cricket gear from Mark Audain, a donation that included a bat, a pair of batting gloves, a pair of pads, a helmet and a thigh pad.

Thanking Audain for the donation and interest in his cricketing well-being, Douglas said: “I want to say thanks to Mark Audain for acknowledging my talent in this way… I intend to use them to the best of my ability and show him (that) it was a worthwhile gesture.”

Audain is a former St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-19 cricketer, who resides in the USA, but who still has interest in the development of cricket here in the land of his birth.

Douglas, a right-handed batsman, who can also wicket keep, represented St Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards at the U-15 and U-19 levels, as well as the Windwards U-17.

Making that step up from Under-19, Douglas’s next rung on his progression ladder is making the St Vincent and the Grenadines’ senior team.

To achieve this, Douglas hopes to score a few hundreds and score the most runs in the Premier Division competition.

Douglas, at last year’s Windward Islands Under-19 Tournament in St Lucia, stroked a double hundred and had several good scores at the Sir Garfield Sobers Cricket International Schools Cricket Festival, inclusive of a century versus Harrison College.

Then, he represented the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College.

At the 2017 SVG Cricket Association Inc gala dinner, awards and recognition ceremony, Douglas was named the Youth Cricketer of the Year.(RT)
