Hector gets Premier Division century making going

Donwell Hector leads the list of century makers in the 2018 National Lotteries Authority (NLA) Premier Division of the national cricket programme.

The right-handed Hector slammed 10 fours and 6 sixes in his 146, to lead Victors One to 245/6 from 47.3 overs, versus Guardian General Saints, in a rain affected fixture at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

His knock was made on Sunday, after Saturday’s play was washed out because of a waterlogged outfield.

The other significant contributor to the total was Alston Bobb, with 44. Victors One’s incomplete innings was the lone action in the drawn match.

Rayon Williams – 3/60 and Kimalie Williams – 2/57, were Saints’ most successful bowlers.

Meanwhile, at Arnos Vale One, in another rain–curtailed match, defending champions FLOW Radcliffe and newly promoted Providence Electronic Solutions North Leeward also had to settle for a draw.

Radcliffe, choosing to bat, posted 221/6 declared from 51.2 overs; Wayne Harper – 59, Deron Greaves – 58 and Gidron Pope – 44 were the principal scorers.

Bowling for North Leeward, Shammon Hooper took 3/75 and Zimron Providence had 2/24.

In reply, North Leeward were dismissed for 117 from 57. Maxwald Edwards’ 27 was the top score, as Othniel Lewis, spun his way to 6/47 and Dyke Cato – 3/31.

Asked to follow on, North Leeward had 33/3 from 14 overs when play ended. Dyke Cato took 2/7.

And, it was a similar tale at the Park Hill Playing Field, when Team Rivals met Police Two, last year’s runner-up.

Kenneth Dember lashed 72, as Police Two, sent in to bat, reached to 262 all out from 62 overs.

Olanzo Jackson and Casmond Walters picked up 3/65 and 3/82, respectively, while Roneil Jeffrey – 2/16 and Asif Hooper – 2/69 distributed the wickets for Team Rivals.

A feeble response of 139 from 40.5 overs was Team Rivals’ best effort with the bat.

Dember followed up his batting, grabbing 5/41 and Romario Bibby took 2/34, as Police Two bowlers flourished.

All six teams will be in action again this weekend. Radcliffe and Police Two tangle at Sion Hill; Victors One and North Leeward square off at the Cumberland Playing Field and Team Rivals and Saints go head to head at Arnos Vale One.(RT)
