TASVG 2018 track and field calendar on the go

The 2018 track and field calendar of Team Athletics SVG, has been released.

Having begun two Saturdays ago with a development meet at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, there was another held at the same venue last Saturday.

Athletes will return to the Arnos Vale Playing Field this Saturday, January 20 for the Throws Classic.

Calendared for January 27, is the third development meet, with the Arnos Vale Playing Field again the venue allocated.

The much anticipated Relay Classic takes place at the Victoria Park, February 3, with February 10 calendared for the hosting of Team Athletics SVG’s annual general meeting.

Special significance will be given to this meeting, as it involves the election of a new executive.

The Jumps Classic and CARIFTA trials are carded for February 17 and 24 respectively, at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

March, on the local scene, will be consumed by the inter-primary, inter-secondary and inter-college meets.

The finals of the inter-primary championships take place March 21, inter-secondary, March 22 and March 23, the inter-college championships, all set for the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

On April 7 and 14, two back-to-back development meets are slated for the Arnos Vale facility, while the last is set for June 2.

Again the calendar shows a dearth of road races, with the Round D Town Road Relay put for September 23; the ET Joshua Run at the decommissioned ET Joshua Airport October 21 and the new Pre-Season Relays take place at Arnos Vale Playing Field, December 8.

Team Athletics SVG will, for another year, host the NACAC Chatoyer Endurance 10k on November 11.

The locally hosted events add to the several overseas championships, which St Vincent and the Grenadines will likely attend.

Among them are the Barbados Relay Fairs, which take place February 10, as well as the Grenada Relays, February 17.

The Junior Carifta Games are in The Bahamas, March 31 to April 2, with the Commonwealth Games in Australia, April 4-15.

St Vincent and the Grenadines will also attend the ANOCES Championships, June 30 to July 1; however, the host venue is yet to be determined.

The IAAF World Juniors are in Finland, July 10 – 15; CAC Games in Colombia, July 29 to August 3, and the NACAC Open Championships, August 10 to 12, in Toronto, Canada.(RT)
