Local athletes cash in on NACAC 10KLeft to
The local component of the NACAC Chatoyer Endurance 10K, run from Gordon Yard to Chateaubelair, provided an avenue for athletes to cash in on the prizes that were at stake.
The race involved athletes contesting for honours in the Under-20, Open and Veteransâ categories.
Ryan John won the Male Under-20 in 48 minutes 17.07 seconds, with his IT-DAT Academy team-mate, Slyford Lampkin, second and X-Cel Sports Clubâs Desroy Jordan, third.
IT-DAT Academy was also in command of the Under-20 Females, as Keiffer Bailey took 1 hour 05.29.71 seconds to traverse the course.
Trailing Bailey in second place was the Richmond Vale Academyâs Josephin Schwenk and third was High Performanceâs Le- Anna Lovelace.
For their efforts, the first place got $500, second, $300 and third place, $200.
It was one-two for IT- DAT Academy in the Open Males, as Meshach Dublin won in 48 minutes 17.07 seconds, with Akani Slater, second.
Docking in third was former king of the Caribbean roads Pamenos Ballantyne, who ran under the banner of SVG International.
In the Female Open division, the winner was High Performanceâs Zita Vincent, whose time was 1 hour 13 minutes 13.87 seconds, with the Richmond Vale Academyâs Josefa Borg the other competitor.
Dublin and Vincent won $700, Slater and Borg, $500 and Ballantyne, $300.
Taking the male bracket of the Veterans was X-Cel Sports Clubâs Caswin Prince, whose time was 54 minutes 04.95 seconds. Roger Young came in second and Ernest King was third.
Stina Herberg of the Richmond Vale Academy took 1 hour 34 minutes 41.68 seconds.
The Veteransâ winners collected EC$300, second place, $200 and third place, $100.
The Richmond Vale Academy, with 26 entrants, accounted for more than half of the participating athletes.
