SVG Masters’ Cricket Competition to end this Sunday

The winner of the 2017 SVG Masters 20/20 Cricket Competition will be determined this Sunday.

Before that grand finale, the semi-finals will take place on Saturday.

The semi-finals will feature defending champions Teachers Credit Union North East versus Mustique and Stanley Browne’s Stubbs against RSVG Police.

The four earned their semi-final places last Sunday.

North East defeated North Leeward by 64 runs at Arnos Vale One.

Alison Dublin stroked 107, with Harvey Pope scoring 29 and Deighton Butler, 25, as North East rattled up 214 for 3 from their 20 overs.

North Leeward’s response stopped at 150 for 6 from their 20 overs. Reginald Jeffrey scored 26 not out and Olando Charles, 23.

Olanzo Jackson was the pick of North East’s bowling, taking 2 for 23.

Also at Arnos Vale One, Mustique Company saw off Bequia Cricket Association by 12 runs.

Mustique Company posted 162 for 7 off 20 overs, as Carl Hamlet struck 35, Oneil Thomas, 26 and Caswell Dorsett, 23.

Bowling for Bequia, Ellis Lavia had 2 for 26 and Alan Foyle, 2 for 28.

Bequia Cricket Association Masters’ reply was 150 for 6 off 20 overs. Ronnie Gregg scored 49 not out and Jeffrey Richards, 29.

Meanwhile, at Sion Hill, RSVG Police got past AR & G Trucking P’tani by 41 runs.

Gosnel Cupid led with 54 and Parnel Browne, 37, as RSVG Police scored 161 for 4 off 20 overs.

Elvis Woods picked up 2 for 29 and Adolphus Campbell, 2 for 33, bowling for P’tani.

Contributions of 24 each from Elvis Charles and Alfred Mc Kenzie were insufficient, as P’tani was stifled to 120 for 6 from their 20 overs allotment.

Elgin Richards took 2 for 7 and Renford Jack, 2 for 25, as the 2015 champions enter another semi-final phase of the competition.

And, another former champion, Stubbs, got past Computec Belfongo by 20 runs at the Sion Hill venue.

Powered by former St Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards batsman Dawnley Joseph’s 90 and his younger brother Micah Joseph’s 43, Stubbs amassed 172 for 3 from their 20 overs.

Belfongo’s most successful bowler was Elvis Browne, who had 2 for 21.

But Belfongo could not erase the 172, and got to 152 for 8 from their 20 overs.

Sylvanus Morgan with 72, Felix Greaves, 38 and Jecema Browne, 27, were Belfongo’s principal scorers.

Dawnley Joseph crowned off a good all-round performance, taking 2 for 9 and Basil Andrews had 2 for 20.

Up to press time, the venues for the semi-finals and final were yet to be determined by the organizers.
