Ball Revolution touches down in Fancy

Most of the youth population of Fancy was given exposure to three sporting disciplines, as the Ball Revolution touched down on that North Windward community, last Saturday.

Morphed into one grand affair, the event saw the official launch of the Grassroot Tennis Club programme in that area, while the club’s football initiative, dubbed “Bring Your Ball and Come” was part of the proceedings.

And, entering the fray too, was the St Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation, basketball outreach programme.

All three disciplines saw the youths taken through the paces by the respective coaches on hand.

Among them was Seymour Walrond, who is a long-standing football coach.

As head of the GTC and chief organizer of the Ball Revolution event, Grant Connell expressed joy at what transpired at Fancy.

“We are so glad that our efforts were recognized with gratitude by the youngsters, as well as the adults of the community… This is the start of a long-lasting relationship with the Fancy community, a community of persons who know only love and appreciation for others,” Connell stated.

Connell was also grateful for the partnerships that are being formed from the Ball Revolution undertaking.

“It was also good to see Rollit back out on the field and giving back that priceless commodity of his time to the youths of Fancy, as he has being doing over 30 years ago when I was a child attending his coaching clinic… Men like Rollit are cherished pearls and great nation builders, who are overlooked,” Connell summed up.

“Our Ball Revolution is another of the many testimonies of the power of sports, as it unites people and cuts across the political divide,” Connell declared.

Present at last Saturday’s activities was parliamentary representative for North Windward Montgomery Daniel, who embraced the efforts of the GTC as wholesome to the development of the community.

Last Saturday’s edition of the Ball Revolution follows previous hosting at the Calliaqua Playing Field, the Sharpes Playing Field and the Clive Tannis Playing Field in Bequia.

The Ball Revolution caravan rolls into the belly of Ottley Hall on Saturday, December 2.
