Raymond Trimmingham resigns as SVGFF’s general secretary

Raymond Trimmingham resigns as SVGFF’s general secretary

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) will soon be looking for a new general secretary; this, after Raymond Trimmingham tendered his resignation last Thursday, October 26.

Trimmingham’s resignation was communicated to the executive committee of the SVGFF via e-mail last Thursday.

In his e-mail, Trimmingham stated that his existing position with the Football Federation “will be conflicting with my future endeavour”.

Trimmingham further told SEARCHLIGHT that in recent times he was not allowed to operate in his capacity, in the current environment of the SVGFF’s secretariat; hence, he had to “move on”.

He reported that in moving on, there was no bad blood between him and his former employers, but he had to look for upward mobility.

Trimmingham, apart from serving the national football administration, has worked for many years in the insurance sector here in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

When SEARCHLIGHT contacted president of the SVGFF Venold Coombs on the matter of Trimmingham’s sudden resignation, he displayed his usual brash demeanour.

“I do not have no time to waste on that at all… I will not entertain that at all… Your paper is one of mischief; you have people resigning from other kind ah organization in St Vincent right…? You are dealing with mischief and I would have nothing to do with that,” Coombs blurted.

Trimmingham denied his abrupt resignation was as a result of late payment of staff, including him.

Reports are that the SVGFF, which depends heavily on draw-downs from football’s governing body FIFA, has in recent months been receiving funding only for administrative purposes.

Trimmingham had replaced Trevor Huggins, who was fired from the post in late 2015.

Huggins, who served in the post from 2011, was first put on suspension in August 2015, a decision which was taken then by Coombs.

Huggins was accused of causing “chaos”, for his constant inquiry about the World Cup ticket sales ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, held in Brazil.
