North East, RSVG Police marching on in Masters cricket
Teacher Credit Union North East and RSVG Police remain the two unbeaten teams in the SVG Masters 20/20 competition.
In the latest set of matches played, North East, last yearâs winners, beat JG and Sons Glamorgan by seven wickets at Park Hill.
Glamorgan made 72 in their 20 overs. Hollis John took 2 for 16.
North East replied with 76 for 3 from 8 overs. Harvey Pope made 36 and Winsbert Springer, 33 not out.
Meanwhile, RSVG Police beat Sion Hill by 31 runs at the Sion Hill Playing Field.
Police scored 109 of 5 from their 12 overs. Elgin Richards and Gosnel Cupid both compiled 32, while Ronald Medford took 2 for 22, bowling for Sion Hill.
In reply, Sion Hill made 78 for 4 from their 12 overs. Ashley Cordice scored 21, while Elmore Alexander took 2 for 15, bowling for Police.
Also registering wins on Sunday were Mustique Company Masters and Kirk Da Silva La Croix.
Mustique Company Masters trumped over Computec Belfongo by 28 runs at Park Hill.
Mustique, despite the overs being reduced to 16, mounted 153 for 3 from their allotment.
Elroy Baptiste, who scored 65 not out, Chadwick Carrington, 28 and Roy Baptiste, 24, were the principal scorers.
Belfongoâs reply ended at 125 for 7 off 16 overs. Jecema Browne made 31, Elvis Browne, 22 and Felix Greaves, 21. Oneil Thomas took 3 for 25 and Roy Baptiste, 2 for 12.
In an exciting encounter at the Sion Hill venue, it took a super over for La Croix to overcome Marriaqua, after both scores were level from the 20 overs.
Batting first, Marriaqua made 121 for 8 from their 20 overs. Orlando Lavia hit 27, while Norman Robinson took 2 for 12.
La Croixâs response was 121 for 4 from their 20 overs. Raymond Ryan made 36 and Patrick Thomas, 20.
Leading La Croixâs bowling was Grantley âIpaâ Constance, who had 2 for 8.
The super over decider saw La Croix making 11 for 0, while Marriaqua scored 10 for 1.
But the weekend of action began on Saturday with three matches.
At Park Hill, AR &G Trucking Ptani defeated Marriaqua by13 runs.
Ptani made 98 all out from 19.5 overs, with Zenus James scoring 46.
Andrew Little had 3 for 10 and Elmondo Shoy, 3 for 11, bowling for Marriaqua, whose reply was short of the 99 needed.
Marriaqua could only manage 85 for 7 from their 20 overs.
Ricky King, who scored 30 and Carlisle Sutherland, 22, were the main contributors, with Michael Jack and Adolphus Campbell picking up 3 for 22 and 2 for 8, respectively.
At Sion Hill, Stanley Browneâs Stubbs had a six-wicket win over Glamorgan.
Michael Stephens top scored with 25, as Glamorgan scored 77 in 18.5 overs.
Glamorganâs batting was unravelled by Theo Wallaceâs 3 for 10, Anthony Richardsâ 2 for 11 and Kevorne Fraserâs 2 for 19.
Stubbs reached 80 for 4 from 11.5 overs, with Kissinger Mc Lean scoring 22.
And, North Leeward got past Pastures by 77 runs at Buccament.
Orville Franklynâs 71 and Orlando Charlesâ 40 combined to see North Leeward to 158 for 8 from 17 overs, three short of the maximum, because of rain.
Pasturesâ best bowler was Ardon Hall, with 3 for 38.
Reginald Jeffrey scalped 4 for 23 and Ancil Hooper, 3 for 16, sending Pastures packing for 81 off 14.1 overs.
