IT-DAT Academy camp nets more committed athletes

The sixth annual training camp undertaken by the IT-DAT Academy during the month of July and August has netted “more committed athletes.”

So says head of the academy Michael Ollivierre.

Summing up this year’s camp, Ollivierre noted, “We now have a bunch of committed athletes, who are willing to work hard and harder.”

The seven-week camp came to an end last Friday at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, with a hosting of an in-house time trial for the 300, 500 and 1,000 m.

Ollivierre disclosed that the athletes are driving the process, as they are pushing him to have more training sessions.

The camp, which had 42 athletes in participation, focussed on general conditioning, strength development and the introduction to hurdles.

Ollivierre admitted that although he and the athletes put in their appearance daily for the past weeks, the input of donors made the camp an added success.

“The academy wishes to express appreciation to the National Lotteries Authority, the Central Water and Sewerage Authority, Singer, Metrocint General Insurance and Webb Schoolboy Beer for their support,” Ollivierre concluded.(RT)
