System Three, Avenues win CCCSSC titles

Vincentian teams System Three Sports Academy and Avenues won the Under-15 and Under-17 titles in the fourth edition of the Caribbean Children’s Charity Shield Soccer Classic (CCCSSC), when the finals were played last Sunday at the Victoria Park.

System Three Sports Academy claimed the Under-15 title, edging out another Vincentian team, Owia United, 1-0. Scoring for System Three Sports Academy was Malik Ferdinand, who netted in the 46th minute.

In the Under-17 final, Avenues United slammed Paradise of Barbados in a 4-0 routing.

The other final contested last Sunday resulted in T & T Maestros handing Pinelands of Barbados a 4-0 defeat in the Under-13 Division.

In the awards ceremony, which followed the finals, Vincentian players also featured prominently.

Kareem Grant of Volcanoes of SVG was named the Best Goalkeeper in the Under-13 Division.

In the Under-15 Division, Aaron Collis of System Three Sports Academy was listed as the Most Valuable Player. Collis was also adjudged Best Midfielder. Also, Iruel Matthias, of Owia United, won the Best Defender award.

Garett Leigertwood, of Avenues United, collected the Most Valuable Player, Best Midfielder and Most Goals awards in the Under-17 Division. The other award collected by a Vincentian was pouched by Joash Nash, also of Avenues United, who copped the Best Defender accolade.

The others, which were exported in the U-13 Division, saw the Best Defender award taken by Kelon Carrington of Pinelands of Barbados. The Best Midfielder and Most Valuable Player was Abdul Quddoos Hipolyte of T & T Maestros.

Also in the Under-13s, Dennelson Kennedy of T & T Maestros was the Top Goal Scorer, with 12 goals. And T & T Maestros were adjudged the Most Disciplined Team.

Meanwhile, in the Under-15 Division, the Most Outstanding Goalkeeper award was snapped up by Renaldo Tidd of Creek of Trinidad and Tobago. The Most Goals awardee was Akiel King of Gall Hill of Barbados.

And, the lone award that was not taken by a Vincentian in the Under-15 Division went to Paradise’s Naston Browne, who was listed as the Best Goalkeeper.

The annual CCCSSC is run by the Hamilton Lashley Human Resources Foundation of Barbados, and has been taken around the region since its inception in 2014.

Barbados hosted the first competition in 2014, Trinidad and Tobago – 2015 and Guyana – 2016. The fifth edition, in 2018, will be staged in St Lucia.
