Blue Chip win second Veronica Bishop Classic

The team representing Blue Chip Basketball Academy, emerged winners of the second annual Veronica Bishop Basketball Classic.

The one-week competition, featuring four teams, culminated last Saturday with the final.

In a humdinger, Blue Chip edged out Playaz 65-64, in a close and entertaining encounter at the Campden Park hard court.

Mavrix finished third and Leeward Boyz, fourth.

Blue Chip’s Ishama Mc Kree was voted the classic’s Most Valuable Player and Playaz’ Junior Peters copped the award as the Best Defensive Player.

The classic was part of a week-long undertaking, in which there were coaching sessions at the Girls’ High School court facility, the Campden Park hard court and in Bequia.

The Blue Chip Basketball Academy was founded by national basketball player Kishon Bishop, a former resident of Campden Park, but who resides in North Carolina, USA.

Bishop told SEARCHLIGHT that the establishment of male and youth basketball teams from the Campden Park community, to compete in local and regional competitions, is one of the aims on the annual camps and the Veronica Bishop Classic.
