Daverson Lavia bests PCCU Clinchers Softball Cricket awards

Daverson Lavia was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2017 St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Co-operative Credit Union’s 20/20 Softball Cricket Competition.

Lavia, a member of the winning unit Owia Young Strikers, in addition to the MVP award, got the awards for the most wickets (17) and Player of the Final.

Joining Lavia as one of the standouts in the competition was Street Fighters’ Ozni Billingy, who collected, for the third time in six years of the competition, the Most Runs award. Billingy scored 209 runs.

Other notable softball cricketers in Jabari Cunningham and Stein Joseph, both of Simple Boyz, were also named as awardees.

Cunningham lashed the most sixes (13) and Joseph was adjudged the Best Wicketkeeper.

Meanwhile, emerging player Zevron Bobb of Street Fighters got the nod as the Most Promising Young Player.

Carlos James of Outa Trouble again grabbed the Best Manager award.

There were also prizes given to the Player of the Week, for each week of the competition.

Donwell Hector – Clinchers One (week one);  Marvin Harry of Outa Trouble Two (week two); Dr Thomas Injectors’ Damion Allen was the recipient for weeks three and seven.

Stein Joseph of Gairy’s Construction Simple Boyz (week four); Junior John – Clinchers Two (week five); Aldeen Spring – Smart Strikers (week six); Britnol Scott – Smart Strikers (week eight); and Erwin Williams – Sion Hill Tallawahs (week nine) were the other players who received products, compliments Coreas Distributors.

Three other team prizes were distributed at last Sunday’s presentation and closing ceremony.

Taking the Most Disciplined Team prize were Dr Thomas Injectors and securing the Best Banner award was host team Shop For Less/Nice Radio Clinchers.

The Ball-o-Rama competition, which started the competition back in February, was also won by Shop For Less/Nice Radio Clinchers.

Organizers also last Sunday presented trophies to the Most Faithful Spectators.
