SV United in command of Biabou football title
A 2-1 victory over Biabou Stingers last Sunday, at the Biabou Playing Field, landed SV United the title of League Champs of the 2017 Hairoun Biabou football competition.
SV United went ahead, compliments an own goal conceded by Biabou Stingers.
Curlon Joseph replied for Biabou Stingers, as parity was restored.
But Akram Edwards hit the go-ahead goal for SV United deep into the second half, to which Biabou Stingers had another response.
For taking the title, SV United lay hands on the Selwyn Compoâ Cumberbatch trophy, $1,500 and medals, while Biabou Stingers collected $1,200, along with a trophy and medals.
Docking in third was Greiggs FC, earning $1,000, a trophy and medals.
Apart from the big award, SV Unitedâs Kendal Joseph pouched the Best Defender award and the Best Manager was Kenrick Quashie.
Biabou Stingersâ Enwar Alexander took away the Best Midfielder accolade and Kevorn Henry of Biabou FC, the Best Goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, Bruce Law Chambers Spartaâs Chavel Cunningham, for his 19 strikes, was the competitionâs Top Goal Scorer.
But the major individual award was bestowed on Biabou FCâs Jadon Jacobs, who was adjudged the competitionâs MVP.
In the team awards, Chapmans FC was voted the Most Disciplined Team and Biabou FC- Best Dressed Team.
Organizers were unable to stage a knockout competition this year, because of the late start.
Walvaroo City won the 2016 knockout title and Hairoun Groove Ballers, the league title.
