North Leeward reach national 20/20 Super Six

Providence Electronic Solutions North Leeward made it through to the Super Six of the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams Twenty/20 Cricket Competition.

Emerging from Zone C, North Leeward registered a 119-run triumph over Belfongo last Sunday at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

North Leeward posted 206 for 6 from their 20 overs. Providing the platform for the total were Ronique Laborde, who scored 89 and Shammon Hooper – 62, as the pair shared in a third wicket stand of 142.

Laborde stroked 9 fours and 4 sixes, while Hooper had 6 fours and 3 sixes.

Travis Cumberbatch got 2 for 44, bowling for Belfongo.

In reply, Belfongo were shot out for 87 in 16.2 overs; Kentish Phillips got 20.

Winston Samuel grabbed 3 for 11; Kemrick Westfield – 2 for 18 and Allison Samuel – 2 for 20, also shared the wickets for North Leeward.

Also advancing from Zone C were Guardian General Saints, who defeated Bequia Cricket Association by 103 runs at Arnos Vale Two on Sunday.

Saints posted 212 for 6 from their 20 overs; Seon Sween made 37, while Rickford Walker and Kenroy Peters both hit 32 and Vincent Cupid – 30.

Bequia Cricket Association were dismissed for 109. Jenry Ollivierre was the lead batsman with 31. Kelon Davis scalped 4 for 23, Romel Currency – 2 for 12, Ray Charles – 2 for 13 and Teron Simon – 2 for 21, bowling for Saints.

It was the first of Bequia’s two defeats of the day, as they lost to French Verandah SVG Community College by 114 runs also at Arnos Vale Two.

The College team compiled 171 for 9. Dion Bynoe struck 31 not out, while Jenry Ollivierre had 2 for 15 and Joseph Francis 2 for 30, bowling for Bequia.

At their turn, Bequia were shot out for 57 in 13.5 overs. Jeremy Haywood took 4 for 17, Ronaldo Franklyn, 2 for 12 and Rayon Williams, 2 for 21.

But on Saturday, French Verandah SVG Community College went under to Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO by 17 runs.

ASCO tallied 177 for 9 in 20 overs. Kelshon Lavia made 35 and Roger Gibson – 30.

Jeremy Layne was the French Verandah SVG Community College’s best bowler, taking 3 for 38.

His team’s response was 160 for 9 in their 20 overs. Rayon Williams hit 56. Deron Greaves had 3 for 19 and Kenson Danzel, 3 for 32.

However, there was some joy for the students, with the RW Sporting World SVG Community College unit, who recorded a seven-wicket win over Radcliffe Too at Arnos Vale Two in Zone B.

Radcliffe Too packed in at 104 in 12.1 overs. Antoneil Browne hit 28. Rayshorn John grabbed 4 for 15, bowling for the RW Sporting World SVG Community College, who reached 106 for 3, also in 12.1 overs.

Anfernee Joseph led with 32 and Jahiel Walters 27. Phillip Baptiste took 2 for 38 for Radcliffe Too.

But RW Sporting World SVG Community College went under Smashers by six wickets on Sunday at Sion Hill.

The RW Sporting World team were dismissed for 95 in 19 overs. Anthony Charles snatched 4 for 9 and Edson Williams 3 for 12, as both achieved hattricks.

Smashers replied with 95 for 4 in 12.1 overs. Ozico Williams was 27 not out and Raymond Rouse – 21 not out.

Rayshorn John had 4 for 17, bowling for RW Sporting World SVG Community College.

The preliminary round of the competition concludes this Saturday, as Flow Radcliffe take on Combined Youths at Arnos Vale One in a Zone A match, while at Sion Hill in Zone B, the decisive match between Police and Team Rivals takes place. Both matches are carded to bowl off at 2 p.m.

Then on Sunday at Arnos Vale One in Zone A, from 9:30 a.m., Victors One meet Strike Eagles.(RT)
