Two centuries highlight Sunday’s action in NLA NW 20/20 competition

Hyron Shallow and Casmond Walters both plundered centuries last Sunday to lead Team Rivals to a crushing eight-wicket win over Smashers in Group B of the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams 20/20 cricket competition.

Shallow and Walters were not out 102 each, as Team Rivals posted 237 for 2 from their 20 overs.

Shallow blasted 12 fours and 3 sixes from 67 balls, while Walters hit 4 fours and 11 sixes from just 39 balls, as the two shared in a third-wicket partnership of 202.

In reply, Smashers were shot out for 83 in 13.1 overs. Olanzo Jackson – 4 for 15, Ronel Jeffrey – 2 for 15 and Rayshorn Durrant – 2 for 24 were the main wicket takers for Team Rivals.

The other Group B saw Police registering a 92-run win over Radcliffe Too at Arnos Vale One.

Half-centuries by Kenneth Dember – 54 and Parnell Browne – 53, helped Police to 179 for 8 from their 20 overs. Canute Lewis – 3 for 42 and Nickron Mc Dowall – 2 for 38 were Radcliffe Too’s most successful bowlers.

Kengsley Joseph hit 36, in Radcliffe Too’s response of 87.

Meanwhile, in Group A, defending champions Flow Radcliffe humbled Owia Stars by 27 runs at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

Romano Pierre stroked 3 fours and a half-dozen sixes in his 86 and Andy Harper made 30, to see Radcliffe to 151 for 3 from 18 overs. Shem Browne was Owia Stars’ best bowler, taking 2 for 36.

Owia Stars ended their run chase at 114. Dean Browne made 25, Emron Lorriane – 25 and Rohan Lavia – 24.

Bowling for Flow Radcliffe, Lindon James and Andy Harper both took 2 for 20.

Sunday’s other Group A match resulted in victory for Strike Eagles at Arnos Vale Two.

Strike Eagles got up to 177, with Darren John making 32 and there were 25 extras conceded by Triumph United.

Rohan Ash took 3 for 28; Keroy Roberts – 2 for 17, Phani Katari – 2 for 25 and Rommel Jack – 2 for 43, bowling for Triumph United, whose response was halted at 137.

Amed Baptiste led with 47 and Rohan Ash – 30. But it was the bowling of Javid Wilson – 5 for 17, Derron John – 3 for 25 and Rellan Mc Kie – 2 for 33, which trumped, as Strike Eagles won by 40 runs.

In Group C at Arnos Vale Two, Guardian General Saints puffed out Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO by six wickets.

ASCO made 121 all out in 17.5 overs. Oheyon Toby got 27, while Rommel Currency had 3 for 12, Teron Simon – 3 for 28, Kimalie Williams – 2 for 16 and Nezron Samuel – 2 for 24.

Antonio Barker was ASCO’s most successful bowler, with 3 for 31.

Also in Group C, Belfongo crafted a seven-wicket win over Bequia Cricket Association at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field.

Bequia was sent packing for 93. Kentish Phillips snared 4 for 24 and Peter Richards – 2 for 18, bowling for Belfongo, who replied with 95 for 3. Oswald Soleyn led the charge with 43.
