East Kingstown Softball Cricket Competition reaches semi-finals

Dr Thomas Injectors, Just For the Fun, Bank of SVG All Stars and Rogers Photo Studio Fya One are the last teams standing in the Ruddy’s Electrical East Kingstown Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition.

The four made it through this phase, with wins last weekend at the competition’s venue – the Grammar School Playing Field.{{more}}

Injectors got by through a 20-run win over Alcoholics on Sunday.

Desron Da Souza – 25 and Wendell Corridon – 22 were the main scorers in Injectors’ total of 90 all out.

Raydon Bentoick took 3 for 6, Felix Baptiste – 3 for 15, Ozico Williams – 2 for 15 and Courtney Joyette – 2 for 16, bowling for Alcoholics.

In response, Alcoholics could only fetch 70, with Joyette making a top score of 18.

The combined bowling efforts of Tex Franklyn – 2 for 11, Wendell Corridon – 2 for 12 and Kesron Ashton – 2 for 18 ensured Injectors were among the last four.

Meanwhile, Just For the Fun had a seven-wicket triumph over Richmond Hill on Saturday.

Richmond Hill were dismissed for 46, undone by the bowling of Desron Spring with 4 for 3 and Curlon John – 2 for 7. Just For the Fun reached 47 for 3. Justin Lee took all three wickets to fall for 13 runs.

Also on Saturday, Fya One took out Snipers Reload by three runs in a gripping encounter.

Fya One made 129 for 8 from their 20 overs, with Atticus Browne getting 30 and Jeranzo Jardine – 22.

Leading Snipers Reload’s bowling were Ovando O’ Brien, who snared 3 for 19 and Raymond Sayers – 2 for 29.

At their turn, Snipers Reload stopped at 126 all out. Kenson Williams hit 22 not out.

There were two wickets each for Javil Harry, Keithlyn Williams, Jeranzo Jardine and Cornelius Emmons, for 18, 23, 25 and 27 runs, respectively.

And on Sunday, All Stars registered a five-wicket win at the expense of United Two.

Batting first, United Two scored 103 for 5 from 20 overs. Marlon Cambridge – 31 and Devon Williams – 22, were the major contributors.

Dwayne Williams grabbed 3 for 16 for All Stars, who replied with 104 for 5 from 19 overs.

Kelly Lorraine led the way with 33 and Glenroy Dasent added 27. Kevorn Cozier picked up 2 for 13 in between All Stars’ triumph.

The semi-final match-ups next Sunday pit Just for the Fun versus Dr Thomas Injectors at 11 a.m. and from 2 p.m., All Stars and Fya One square off.(RT)
