Desron Maloney stands tall in TBPO Softball Cricket Competition

Undoubtedly one of the most talented among the current crop of softball cricketers in St Vincent and the Grenadines, Desron Maloney copped the top award at the closing and presentation ceremony of the 2015 National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organization Softball Cricket Competition.{{more}}

Also a national cricketer, Maloney, on Saturday, December 19, left the Dauphine Playing Field with the award of the competition’s Most Valuable Player.

This was achieved as he combined both his batting and bowling skills to good effect.

Maloney scored the most runs – 330, and was the Player of the Final, in which he blasted a boundary filled 78. He topped it up with eight wickets in his bowling spells.

Taking the most wickets in the competition was Gomea Bombers’ Raymond Sayers, who captured 16 scalps.

Danroy Hazell of Georgie Valley Saints was adjudged the Most Improved Player and Stingers for the second year running, the Most Disciplined Team.

Additionally, there was a medal award to the most valuable player of each of the competing teams.

The recipients were Desron Maloney – Simple Boys; Zenroy Lee – Richmond Hill; Uroy Farrell – CGM Gallagher Novice; Bradley Richards – Stingers; Desburn Jack – Shot Callers; Antonio Barker – ASCO and Rodney Gibson – Sunset Strikers.

Completing the list of awardees were Desron Spring – Nice Radio Clinchers; Zane Greaves – Georgie Valley Saints; Asquith Mapp – Bank of SVG All Stars; Kezron Ashton – Dr Thomas Injectors; Christian Williams – Winter Boys; Jerando Jardine – Carriere Blazers; Jason Jackson – MC Lil Saints; Raymond Sayers – Gomea Bombers; Jevorn Jack – EZ Woods Toppers; Rohan King – Computec Older Boys and Carlton Baptiste – New Track Guys.(RT)
