Top Shottaz Squady, a lookalike of the dominant Simple Boyz outfit, replying to Young Strikers’ 105 for 7 off 20 overs, reached 106 for 5 in 19.1 overs.

In a match which ebbed and flowed, Top Shottaz Squady’s effort with the bat was thanks to a sixth wicket partnership between Player of the Final Nicos Davis – 20 not out and Player of the Final Edwin Payne – 19 not out, as the two put together an unbroken 60-run stand.

Daveson Lavia was Young Strikers’ most successful bowler, with 2 for 31.

When Young Strikers batted, 24 each from Shem Browne and Rohan Lavia helped their total, as Travis Cumberbatch picked off 3 for 20 and Edwin Payne – 2 for 32.

In the third place play-off, which preceded the final, Sion Hill Tallawahs coasted to a six-wicket win over Bank of SVG All Stars.

Batting first, All Stars made 71 for 9 from 17 overs, with Alex Roberts taking 2 for no run and Shawn Williams – 2 for 14.

Sion Hill Tallawahs responded with 72 for 4 in 10.1 overs, of which Kerwin Williams contributed 34.

Top Shottaz Squady collected $2,500, Young Strikers – $1,500 and Sion Hill Tallawahs – $1,000.

Nineteen teams participated in the competition.(RT)
