Young Strikers after hat-trick in Greiggs Softball Cricket

Owia Young Strikers will be chasing their third straight title when the final of the Hairoun Brewery, Sea Operations SVG Ltd, Courtesy Sports, Nar Fren Dem Greiggs T20 Softball Cricket Competition takes place this Sunday from 1:30 p.m. at the Greiggs Central Playing Field.{{more}}

Last Sunday, Young Strikers earned the right for another shot of the top prize with a 59-run win over Bank of SVG All Starz. Owia Young Strikers batted first and registered 141 for 6 in their 18 overs. Denson Hoyte top scored with 75.

Kelique Samuel took 2 for 43, bowling for Bank of SVG All Starz.

In response, All Starz were 83 for 9 from their 18 overs; Neil Audain made 24, as Denson Hoyte added his bowling skills to good effect, with 3 for 8.

Before that, Owia Young Strikers’ opponents in the final,Top Shottaz Squady, had ousted Sion Hill Tallawahs by 13 runs.

Stein Joseph – 61 and Elric Morris – 42 not out, propelled Top Shottaz Squady to 131 for 5 wickets in their 15 overs. Shamic Roberts was Sion Hill Tallawahs’ most successful bowler, taking 2 for 18.

Sion Hill Tallawahs’ reply ended at 119 for 6 in their allotted 15 overs. Erwin Williams was the main scorer with 47.

Before Sunday’s final, the third place play-off will take place from 11:30 a.m., when Tallawahs and All Stars square off.(RT)
