North East stumble in SVG Masters’ Cricket

Defending champions of the SVG Masters’ Twenty/20 Cricket Competition North East got their 2015 journey blotted last Sunday on home soil at the Park Hill Playing Field by St Vincent Co-operative Bank Ptani.{{more}}

North East got to 112 for 5 off 20 overs; Olanzo Jackson made 34 not out. Bowling for Ptani, Westmore Campbell took 2 for 14 and Adolphus Campbell – 2 for 19.

In response, Ptani scored 113 for 2 in 17.2 overs; Cassius Welcome got 46 and Isaac Haywood, 23 not out.

Meanwhile, Cato’s Heavy Equipment Glamorgan, Rate Your Boys Challengers, Bequia United Masters, RSVG Police and North Leeward were the other winners in round four.

Glamorgan defeated Kirk Da Silva’s La Croix by seven wickets at Park Hill on Saturday.

La Croix were 69 for 3 off 16 overs. (overs reduced because of rain); Burt Bowman made 24. Raymond Ryan had 2 for 20.

Glamorgan replied with 70 for 3 in 9.5 overs.

Also on Saturday at Arnos Vale Two, Rate Your Boys Challengers beat North Leeward by five wickets.

North Leeward racked up 111 for 6 off 17 overs (overs reduced to 17 because of rain); William Edwards made 35. Julian Cain took 2 for 7.

Challengers, in response made 115 for 5 off 16.5 overs; Uzzah Pope got 58.

Bowling for North Leeward, Jamal Jeffrey made 3 for 18 and Jimmy Sam, 2 for 15.

On Sunday, Bequia Cricket Association Masters defeated Park Hill United by 26 runs at Park Hill. Bequia scored 95 for 5 off 15 overs (overs reduced to 15 because of rain); Ashley Cordice made 32.

Alney Spring took 3 for 10, Calvin Hazell – 2 for 9 and Ellis Lavia – 2 for 11, bowling for Bequia.

RSVG Police recorded a 23-run win over Rudy’s Electrical Barrouallie at Arnos Vale Two.

RSVG Police made 88 for 3 off 10 overs (overs reduced to 10 because of rain). Gosnel Cupid and Parnell Browne both hit 31.

Barrouallie were 65 for 6 from their 10 overs. Elgin Richards had 2 for 5 and Frankie Joseph – 2 for 11.

And, North Leeward rebounded to earn a six-wicket win over Pastures.

Playing at Arnos Vale Two Pastures tallied 128 for 4 off 20 overs; Lennox Samuel had 31.

North Leeward scored 129 for 4 off 17.5 overs; David Ellis struck 23.

Frederick Trimingham had 2 for 21, bowling for Pastures.

Eight matches are carded for this weekend. On Saturday, Sion Hill and North Leeward meet at Arnos Vale Two, with Belfongo and Challengers doing so also from 2 p.m. at Park Hill.

On Sunday, from 10 a.m., Barrouallie and Pastures play at Arnos Vale One; Glamorgan and Ptani at Arnos Vale Two and at Park Hill, Bequia and North East.

The 2 p.m. matches on Sunday pit Sion Hill against RSVG Police at Arnos Vale One; La Croix versus Marriaqua at Arnos Vale Two and Park Hill meet Stanley Browne’s Stubbs at Park Hill.(RT)
