Five more matches completed in SVG Masters Cricket Competition

Five more matches were determined when the SVG Masters Twenty/20 Cricket Competition entered round three last Sunday.

Coming out on top were St Vincent Cooperative Bank Ptani, Cato’s Heavy Equipment Glamorgan, Belfongo, Rate Your Boys Challengers and RSVG Police.{{more}}

Ptani defeated Kirk DaSilva’s La Croix Masters by three wickets.

La Croix, led by Patrick Thomas’ 60 not out, compiled 126 for 4 off 20 overs, to which Ptani replied with 127 for 7 in 18.4 overs.

Alfred Mc Kenzie topscored with 24, as Basil Weekes picked up 3 for 17, bowling for La Croix.

Glamorgan also were runaway winners over Marriaqua by 87 runs.

Glamorgan posted 197 for 5 off 20 overs; McNeil Morgan – 51 not out, James George – 30 and Samuel Richards – 27 were the main scorers.

Bowling for Marriaqua, Elmondo Shortte took 2 for 14 and Raymond Mingo, 2 for 52.

Marriaqua’s response stopped at 110 for 6 off 20 overs. Raymond Mingo got 43 and Wendell Parris – 32.

They were stymied by the bowling of McNeil Morgan, who took 2 for 9 and James George – 2 for 19.

Meanwhile, Belfongo overcame Pastures by 57 runs.

Junior Bacchus – 43, Ted Roberts – 34 and Urias King – 25 combined to see Belfongo to 173 for 5 from their 20 overs. Alvin Hope took 2 for 33, bowling for Pastures, who were then dismissed for 118 in 16 overs.

Only Winston Peters’ 22 was any score of note, as Wendell Glasgow picked up 3 for 18; Ted Roberts took 2 for 13 and Rohan King – 2 for 14.

Joining the victory parade was Rate Your Boys Challengers, who outdid Ruddy’s Electrical Barrouallie by 26 runs.

Rate Your Boys Challengers batted first and got to 130 for 8 in their maximum 20 overs. Noel Samuel was the principal scorer, making 36.

Sharing the bowling honours for Barrouallie were Ian Allen – 3 for 12; Samuel Byam – 2 for 11 and Lennif Hector – 2 for 21.

Randolph Mason stroked 26 not out and Ian Allen – 25; but their efforts were insufficient, as Barrouallie could only reach 104 for 7 from their reciprocal 20 overs.

Doing the job of restriction were Tyrone Walker – 2 for 11; Wayne Matthews – 2 for 19 and Leopold Simmons – 2 for 29.

And, RSVG Police defeated North Leeward by seven wickets.

North Leeward made 108 for 7 off 20 overs; Winston Skinner got 25. Bowling for Police, Frankie Joseph grabbed 3 for 22 and Elgin Richards – 2 for 21.

Parnell Browne’s 51 not out and Jeffrey Laborde – 36 then piloted RSVG Police to 109 for 3 in 18 overs.(RT)
