Bequia 5k leads off TASVG’s 2015 road racing calendar

The starter’s gun will go off on September 20 to signal the commencement of Team Athletics SVG’s road racing calendar.

But while Bequia will set the pace, this year’s programme sees a marked slowdown in events.{{more}}

According to a release from Team Athletics SVG, the race will be open to any member of the public who wishes to participate.

The release also stated: “Registration forms are available from Mr Ulrick Gurley in Bequia and at Olympic House. The deadline for registration will be September 17, 2015.”

In making the programme known, general secretary of Team Athletics SCG Tyrone James noted: “Unfortunately due to funding constraints the number of events for 2015 had to be reduced.”

The events listed show three races named “TASVG 5k Road races” which are set for September 4, in Biabou, October 18 in Layou, along with the North Windward race carded for November 15.

TASVG will also host the Round D Town Road Relay on November 22.

This race, which in recent times kicked off the calendar, saw regular participation from Grenada in what was the intent of Team Athletics SVG, an international affair.

However, the event has now reverted to a local gathering.

Apart from TASVG’s events, the three others on the programme are the LOG Enterprise races.

These races are dated for Byera Hill – October 11, with the second, the Sion Hill Sprint scheduled for November 1.

The grand finale of the LOG Enterprise series is the very popular North Leeward run on December 6.
