PMFA to stage football camp in July

Former national footballers Pete and Desmond Morris have combined forces, through Touchmasters and the Pete Morris Football Academy (PMFA), to stage a football camp here next month.

Set for two weeks at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field, the camp will also have the input of famed Spanish club FC Barcelona’s Head Youth coaching director, Jefrey Callau Casanova.{{more}}

A release from the PMFA states that the first week of the camp will run from July 20 to 24 and the second set from July 27 to 31.

Targetting boys and girls between the age of six and 15 years old, the camp is not restricted to Vincentians, but to Caribbean nationals, as well as others from outside the region.

During the camp, the participants will be exposed to Football Coaching Methods, Football Matches and An Introduction to Money Management 101.

According to a release from PMFA, “Casanova will focus on the Barcelona Way, and the Morris brothers will focus on The Modern Game. …This combination of both philosophies plans to make this camp experience a soccer player’s dream… We are hoping that this will be a great summer experience for not only young Vincentian players, but also other Caribbean players.

“We are definitely excited at the potential and prospect of completing this momentous accomplishment… We are also hoping that this experience and alliance will help our players to be exposed to a higher level of coaching which will eventually help the region to close the soccer-developmental gap,” the release added.

Alongside the camp experience the Morris brothers will be conducting the Touchmasters Giveaway in SVG, which will be the 13th such exercise.

Following the camp here, the Morris brothers will team up with Barcelona’s coaches in Houston, Texas at an annual summer camp there.
