Simple Boyz, Outa Trouble One in Clinchers Softball final
Gairy Construction Simple Boyz and Country Meet Town Outa Trouble ONE will contest the final of the St Vincent Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers T/20 Softball Cricket Tournament, after easily beating their semi-finals opponents last Sunday at the Richland Park Oval.{{more}}
Country Meet Town Outa Trouble ONE were forced to play two matches on Sunday, after having to take on Dr Thomas Injectors in the last quarter-final match in the morning.
Outa Trouble ONE batted first and made 128 for 9 in their 20 overs, with Ozni Billingy stroking 33, with four sixes and two fours. Ron Adams got 3 for 25 and Emil Small 3 for 28, bowling for Dr Thomas Injectors.
Dr Thomas Injectors, however, were not immunized enough and were shot out for 75 in 18.2 overs, with Julian Danzel taking 5 for 11.
In the first semi-final match, former champions Simple Boyz comfortably beat Nice Radio Clinchers by eight wickets.
Clinchers never got into the game, to be dismissed for 72. Okeiph Andrews struck three sixes and one four in a top score of 23.
Kentish Phillips took 4 for 11, bowling for Simple Boyz, who then reached 73 for 2 in 11.1 overs. Stein Joseph was left unbeaten on 36, with five sixes.
In the other semi-final match, Country Meet Town Outa Trouble overcame Sion Hill Tallawahs by 53 runs.
Country Meet Town Outa Trouble batted first and rushed to 160 for 2 in their 20 overs, with Rodney Lawrence â 60 not out and Ozni Billingy â 48 not out.
They shared in a third wicket stand of 123, featuring in an unbroken century stand for the third wicket. Lawrence struck seven sixes and two fours and Billingy six sixes and one five, as they bludgeoned 81 from the last six overs.
In response, it took a counter-attacking innings from captain Shamic Roberts (56) to generate some life in the Tallawahsâ chase.
Roberts carted eight sixes, but his teamâs reply ended at 102 for 7, from their 20 overs.
Imran Samuel finished with 3 for 18, bowling for Outa Trouble ONE.
The final and third place will take place on Sunday, June 15, at the Richland Park Oval, to be followed by the closing ceremony.
