Three advance to Clinchers T/20 Softball semis

Gairy Construction Simple Boyz, Nice Radio Clinchers and Sion Hill Tallawahs last weekend booked places in the semi-finals of the SVG Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers T/20 Softball cricket competition at the Richland Park Oval.{{more}}

On Saturday, Simple Boyz defeated Smashers by seven wickets. Batting first, Smashers were shot out for 45 in 18 overs. Edwin Payne took 3 for 7 and Eldon Morris – 3 for 11.

Simple Boyz got to their target in 7.3 overs, to reach 50 for 3.

Stein Joseph struck three sixes, to finish 20 not out.

Then, on Sunday, Clinchers overcame some stiff opposition from Computec Cane End before prevailing by 16 runs. Clinchers got to 101 for 5 in their allotment of 20 overs, batting first.

Okeiph Andrews struck three sixes and one four in his top score of 28 and Desron Spring got 26. But Cane End’s inning came to a close at 85 all out in 19.2 overs. Dwight Allen scored 25.

Bowling for Clinchers, Orlando Lavia grabbed 4 for 18 and Curlan John 3 for 16.

Sunday’s other encounter, which was a battle of teams north of the Rabacca Dry River, resulted in Sion Hill Tallawahs outdoing their neighbours Owia Young Strikers by five wickets.

Inserted by the Tallawahs, Owia Young Strikers were restricted to 98 for 8 in their 20 overs.

Rohan Lavia top scored with 22, in which he clobbered three sixes.

Shamic Roberts, with 3 for 7, was his team’s most successful bowler, with Collin Williams chipping with 2 for 9 and Kerwin Williams, who took 2 for 37.

Asroy Baptiste blasted seven sixes in his knock of 45, as the Tallawahs rushed to 100 for 5 in 11.3 overs. Denson Hoyte was belted for 45, but picked up two of the five wickets which fell.(RT)
