Team Rivals continue to lead Premier Division cricket race

Team Rivals are staying in pole position to make it four in a row in the National Lotteries Authority Premier Division of the national cricket competition.

Another crushing defeat was handed out to LIME Radcliffe by Team Rivals at the Park Hill Playing Field,{{more}} as the defending champions gained five straight wins in this year’s edition.

Radcliffe batted first and made 152, with Romano Pierre hitting 40.

But it was Roland Wilkinson who took the limelight, bagging 7 for 70 and Kimali Williams chipped in with 3 for 13.

Rivals, on the back of Casmond Walters – 70, Marvin Small – 44 and Davian Barnum – 33, posted 214.

Jerome Jack had 4 for 19, Dyke Cato 3 for 80 and Urnel Thomas 2 for 2, bowling for Radcliffe.

Batting a second time, Radcliffe was bundled out for 73.

Again, it was Roland Wilkinson who fetched 4 for 10, to finish with 11 for 80; Roneil Jeffrey took 3 for 17 and Kimali Williams 2 for 16, setting Rivals a mere 11 to win.

Rivals reached 16 without loss, to win by 10 wickets.

Meanwhile, Guardian General Saints, who are keeping close watch of Rivals, bettered their position with a four-wicket win over Police Two.

Choosing to take first knock on Saturday at Arnos Vale Two, Police Two put together 185, all out.

This, after a promising opening stand of 97 between Salvan Browne – 52 and Mc Leon Williams – 51. Browne peppered six fours and three sixes and Williams struck three fours and four sixes. Shacky Green also laced 30, made up of five fours and a six.

Andrew Emtage with 4 for 20; Kentish Jacobs – 3 for 53 and Rommel Currency – 2 for 19 were Saints’ most successful bowlers.

Jerron John – 36 and Vincent Cupid – 32 were the main contributors with the bat, as 46 extras, conceded by Police Two, propped up Saints’ total of 209 for 9 declared.

Mohammed Lavia was the top wicket taker for Police Two, grabbing 6 for 43.

Batting a second time, Police Two were dismissed for 107: Kenneth Dember made 35.

It was former Police Two player Rolando Wright who snuffed out 6 for 24, setting his team 93 to win.

Saints, after a few hiccups, reached 93 for 6, with Jerron John, the top scorer with 31.

Bowling for Police Two, Romario Bibby, a former Saints player, took 2 for 23.

Saints have Radcliffe and Team Rivals as their remaining matches, while Rivals also have Victors One to play, and the two title chases complete their agenda. (RT)
