Antrobus and Durrant stay in the saddle

Lucky Antrobus and Peter Durrant kept their record for 2015 intact, as both topped their respective age categories when the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cycling Union staged its second event for the year, last Sunday afternoon.{{more}}

The event – a Hill Sprint, which started at Sea Breeze Guest House at Arnos Vale to Fountain, was the order of race number two.

Antrobus, riding in the Open category, clocked two minutes 21.33 seconds, with Durrant timing two minutes 22.73 seconds, to take the Over-35 category, as the Cycling Union lowered the minimum age from 40 years.

And, for the second time in as many races, the 2014 Cyclist of the Year Zefal Bailey had to trail Antrobus, clocking a time of two minutes 21.62 seconds. Third was Cammie Adams in two minutes 22.50 seconds.

Steve Ollivierre’s time of two minutes 25.31 seconds placed him second in the Over-35’s.

Returning a time of two minutes 26.54 seconds was Randy Wilkinson, who docked in third, behind Durrant and Ollivierre.

Cyclists will be at it again this Sunday, February 22, with a 44- mile road race.

The DASCO Pharmacy 44-mile race, is set to ride off from 2 p.m. outside DASCO Pharmacy on Halifax Street, travelling to the Windward side to Georgetown, returning to finish at the Sion Hill intersection.

This is the third year that DASCO Pharmacy is sponsoring the event. (RT).
