Switching location again this year to the Victoria Park, this Saturday, February 7, the Relay Classic is set to start at 9 a.m. and be completed by 1 p.m.

But the 2014 winners might just not have it all their way, as 2013 champions — Central Leeward Secondary — along with another former winner — the Kingstown Preparatory School, would want to get their share of the spoils.

Apart from being champed at the National Relay Classic, IT-DAT club, the Thomas Saunders Secondary and the St Vincent Grammar School would be using the event to test their readiness for the Barbados Relay Fair on February 14.

Meanwhile, other schools are expected to utilize Saturday’s outing to prepare for the Inter-Primary and the Inter- Secondary Schools’ Track Meets.

Competition is expected in the age categories of Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-18, Under-20, 20 years and over and Veterans.

The Under-11’s and Veterans contest the 4×100 and 4×200 metres, likewise the Under-13’s and Under-15’s, but with the Swedish Relay their third event. The Swedish Relay goes progressively from 100 m to 400 metres.

The 4×100, the 4×400 metres and the Sprint Relay are the three races which the Under-18, Under-20 and 20 and Over athletes will seek to excel.

A Distance Relay, which is an open event, forms part of this Saturday’s schedule. (RT)
