Pope blasts century in National Twenty/20 Cricket

Gidron Pope, the St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-19, senior and Windwards Under-19 opener, slammed a century last Saturday at Arnos Vale One to help LIME Radcliffe push over Victors Two in the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams Twenty/20 Cricket Competition. {{more}}

Pope lashed seven fours and counted the same number of sixes in his innings of 104 not out, as Radcliffe made 175 for 2. Romano Pierre – 29 and Lindon James – 28, added to the final score.

Victors Two, in response, reached 132 for 6 from their 20 overs; Kirton Lavia scored 38 and Kishore Shallow – 25.

Bowling for Radcliffe, Wesrick Straugh took 3 for 30 and Dyke Cato – 2 for 31.

Radcliffe also recorded a 39-run win over Bequia.

Rodney Lawrence stroked 74 and Lindon James made 42, as Radcliffe crafted 145 for 3 from their allotted 20 overs.

Bequia’s reply stopped at 106 for 8; Cosmus Hackshaw made 37. Dyke Cato was the pick of Radcliffe’s bowling, taking 3 for 17.

But Bequia had a four-wicket win over Victors Two.

Seon Sween 24 and Kishore Shallow were the principal scorers in Victors Two’s total of 106 for 8.

Bowling for Bequia, Mesach Williams took 2 for 7 and Jenry Ollivierre 2 for 20.

Cosmus Hackshaw compiled 55 and Jenry Ollivierre 22 not out, as Bequia crossed the line at 107 for 6.

Meanwhile, another of the powerhouses in the competition, defending champions Team Rivals easily dispatched Combined Youths by 98 runs.

Team Rivals, on the back of 85 from Casmond Walters and Hyron Shallow’s 56, reached 197 for 6 from their 20 overs.

Elton Joseph had 2 for 26 and Nickie Antoine – 2 for 35, bowling for Combined Youths, who were stifled for 99 for 3, off all of their 20 overs. Marlon Farrell contributed 40 not out.

Radcliffe Too eeked out a four-run win at the expense of Police One.

Collveen King – 64 and Phillip Baptiste – 36, were the principal scorers in Radcliffe Too’s 141 for 5. Sylvan Spencer grabbed 3 for 30, bowling for Police One.

In response, Police One fell at 137; Kenroy Williams scored 30.

Kensley Joseph took 2 for 4, bowling for Radcliffe Too.

And, Triumph United won by default from Rivals Two.(RT)
