Those making the step forward at the Dauphine Playing Field were Gomea Bombers, CGM Gallagher Novice and Dr Thomas Injectors.

Gomea Bombers resisted RSVG Police, beating them by 43 runs.

Batting first, Gomea Bombers compiled 146 for 8 in 15 overs; Edwin Joe topped with 31.

Bowling for Police, Shaffique Joseph took 3 for 25 and Demris Daniels 2 for 15.

In reply, Police were detained by the bowling of Alwayne Quashie, who took 2 for 19 and Osborne Franklyn, 2 for 24, and could only reach 103 for 6 in 15 overs.

Saleme George scored 28 and Gerald Gould 21.

Also on Saturday, Novice crafted a 97- run win over Glen United. Hyron Shallow with 69, Roderick John – 32 and Richie Richards – 20, saw Novice to 141 for 2 in 13 overs.

Troy John took 2 for 41, bowling for Glen United, then hit a top score of 15, as his team meandered to 44 for 5 from their 13 overs. Bowling for Novice, Ronell Jack took 2 for 4.

On Sunday, Injectors recorded back-to-back wins against Premium Boys and Bank of SVG All Stars. Injectors beat Premium Boys by 53 runs and had an 18-run triumph over All Stars.

Injectors posted 174 for 7 in 20 overs versus Premium Boys, with Ronnick Daniel stroking 74 and Damion Allen 47.

Sheldon Straugh was Premium Boys’ most successful bowler, taking 2 for 21.

At their turn, Premium Boys reached 121 for 7 in 19 overs; Javan Nero made 39 and Sebastian Davis 26

Bowling for Dr Thomas Injectors, Damion Allen took 2 for 6 and Kelvin Lorraine had 2 for 16.

Facing Bank of SVG All Stars, Injectors made 123 for 8 from their 20 overs. Ronnick Daniel was again the mainstay, as he scored 48.

But it was Kelly Murray’s 6 for 23 which was the innings’ highlight.

All Stars could not shine enough and were dismissed for 105 in 18 overs.

Desmond Bramble – 27 and Asquith Mapp – 22, were All Stars’ sparks with the bat, as Quesnel Cottoy – 5 for 13 and Ron Adams – 2 for 17, bowled their team to a place in the semi-finals of the competition.

Two of the remaining quarter-final matches take place on Saturday, with Browne and Browne Richmond Hill taking on Novice from 1 p.m., then Gairy’s Construction Simple Boys meet Smashers from 3 p.m. The final quarter-final match is carded for Sunday at 9 a.m., when Gomea Bombers face Nar Fren Dem.

The same day sees the semi-finals scheduled. From noon, Dr Thomas Injectors face the winner of the Simple Boys/Smashers encounter and from 3 p.m., the winner between Novice and Richmond Hill entertain the winner of the Gomea Bombers versus Nar Fren Dem match-up. (RT)
