Novice lock down Police in TBPO Softball Competition

CGM Gallagher Novice played their way to redemption last Saturday at the Dauphine Playing Field, in the National Lotteries Top Belair Progressive Organisation’s Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition.{{more}}

Novice, who had previously lost to Simple Boys, were able to evade RSVG Police, to win by five wickets.

RSVG Police batted first, but were tied down by the bowling of Renrick Williams – 3 for 8 and Andre Hunte, and crawled to 84 for 8 in 15 overs. Salvan Browne top scored with 18.

Novice, thanks to Renrick Williams’ 35, resisted the Police’s attack, as his team reached 87 for 5 in 14.3 overs.

Also on Saturday, it was a summer’s day for Winter Boys, who left Computec Older Boys frozen in their crease, beating them by 28 runs.

Winter Boys made 83 all out in 15 overs, as Michael John took three wickets and Junior Bacchus had two scalps.

But that total proved to be sufficient, as Older Boys were dismissed for 55 in 14.2 overs. Only Junior Bacchus’ 21 was any score of note, as Simeon Payne and Glenroy John pocketed three and two wickets respectively.

On Sunday, Glen United blotted Government Printery by nine wickets; Nar Fren Dem won from Premium Boys by six runs; and there was a no decision between Browne and Browne Richmond Hill and Dr Thomas Injectors.

The low scoring weekend continued with the Printery, 63 all out in 12.3 overs; Devon Patterson hit 22.

Bowling for Glen United, Troy John took 4 for 14, Renaldo Coombs 3 for 14.

Both then crafted Glen United’s response, with John stroking 25 and Coombs – 23, as their team rushed 68 for 1 in 8.5 overs.

But, it was a closer encounter between Nar Fren Dem and Premium Boys.

Nar Fren Dem, taking first strike, scored 96 all out in 16.2 overs, with Shamice Roberts hitting 30.

Anthony Charles, with 3 for 10, Javorne Nero, 2 for 10 and Julius London, 2 for 25, shared the bowling spoils for Premium Boys.

In reply, Premium Boys’ innings stopped at 90 all out in 19.4overs; Javorne Nero scored 19.

Bowling for Nar Fren Dem, Brent Lavia grabbed 4 for 26 and Cody Jarvis had 3 for 11.

And, Richmond Hill United and Injectors shared the honours and points in a rained out fixture. (RT)
