Cato’s Heavy Equipment forklifts Business Houses TT title

It did not take much effort for Cato’s Heavy Equipment Services to hoist the 2014 St Vincent and the Grenadines Table Tennis Association Business Houses tournament.{{more}}

Having played unbeaten throughout the preliminary round of competition on the firm tripod of Davon Cato, Junior Byron Cox and Ironsi Roberts, the team carried over that form into the semi-finals and finals last Saturday night at the West St George Secondary School.

Cato’s Heavy Equipment offloaded the skeletal Computec/Irie Travel, who only had Michael John and Etienne Da Silva present at the venue. Computec/Irie Travel therefore paid the price and lost three games to love.

Cato made light work of Da Silva in straight sets, 11/1, 11/6 , 11/1, while Roberts beat a pumped up John 8/11, 12/10, 11/6, 8/11, 15/13 in a hard fought match, but Byron-Cox did not need to extend any energy as he won from Oral Roberts by default.

The other half of the semi-finals, was a similar fate as TJ’s Supplies walked past Lotto Combine.

Lotto Combine had to do without Delwin Nelson, who showed up late for the contest. Mark Charles ousted Colin Cambridge 10/12 , 11/7, 9/11, 11/7, 11/8; Tyrone Jack beat Murray Bullock 11/5, 11/3, 11/9 and Giles Garraway won from Nelson by default.

Vinlec and S G De Freitas were the other two entities which participated in the tournament, but failed to make it to the last four.(RT)
