Another Vincy pot-pourri served in BCL weekend

For the second week running, Vincentian teams were the main participants in the Brooklyn Cricket League in New York.{{more}}

Serving up the stewed results were Middlesex and Imperial, who both recorded one win and had one defeat against them.

Middlesex, on Saturday, at Marine Park C, made minced meat of their Vincentian counterparts Cavaliers by 10 wickets.

Cavaliers were dismissed for 89 in 16 overs, dismantled by the bowling of Denva Passley with 3 for 14, Kavir Singh 3 for 15, Safiq Muntasir 2 for 19 and Leon Hyde 2 for 12. Middlesex then responded with 91 without loss in 15.2 overs; Rashane Manning was 54 not out.

But on Sunday at Seaview, Middlesex was sent nosediving by another Vincentian outfit, Imperial.

Taking advantage of Middlesex, who fielded only eight players, Imperial romped to 300 for 6 from 32 overs. Foster Lewis slammed 18 fours and 1 six in his innings of 143, while Bjore Brown stroked 8 fours in his 68 and Don Parris polished 7 fours in his knock of 40.

Middlesex, despite a stand of 129 between Mark Audain and Alston Bacchus, 40, was only able to reach 165 for 7. Audain blistered 7 fours and 2 sixes and Bacchus creamed 3 fours in their losing efforts, as Imperial won by 135 runs.

It was a reprieve for Imperial, which was beaten by Diplomats by 55 runs on Saturday.

Diplomats posted 232 for 9 in their allotted 40 overs; Shaquille Williams made 77, Gavin Smith 37 not out and Romario Neil 32 not out.

Bowling for Imperial Shadi Khan took 2 for 48.

In reply, Imperial 177 were all out. Batting for Imperial Foster Lewis scored 33 and Peter Haywood 29.

Shaquille Williams with 4 for 48, Gavin Smith, 3 for 28, and Archibald Brydon, 2 for 45, shared the wickets for Diplomats.(RT)
