Victoria Village Future Stars stay on winning course in Stubbs cricket

Victoria Village Young Future Stars chalked up additional wins in the South East Development Inc 20/20 Cricket Competition, when they secured their fourth win in the competition last Sunday at the Stubbs Playing Field.{{more}}

Their unbeaten run was extended when they defeated Panthers by three wickets.

Panthers scored 105 for 7 off their 20 overs, after choosing to bat. Bowling for Future Stars, Austin Edwards took 2 for 25.

Victoria Village Young Future Stars replied with 106 for 7 off 19.3 overs.

Dwayne Richards led the response with 33 and Kentish Bascombe, 24.

Kevin Henry, 3 for 17, and Kazim Haywood, 3 for 21, were the bowling lights for Panthers.

It was Panthers’ second loss on the weekend, as they were beaten by Third World on Saturday.

Panthers were shot out for the lowest total in the competition to date – 55. Panthers were undone by Norlan Williams who took 4 for 13.

Third World then rushed to 56 for 1 in just six overs, as Desron Maloney top scored with 23 not out.

Sunday’s other match saw last year’s winners – Nuts and Rum Mix Up Moods falling to Top Gun.

Top Gun won the toss and batted first, scoring 131 all out in their maximum 20 overs.

That total included contributions from Kevin Toby, who hit 26 and Imran Thomas, 20.

Anthony Richards had 3 for 19 and Godfrey Brewster 3 for 25, bowling for Mix Up Moods.

Despite Kirtland Thomas’ 43, Mix Up Moods’ run chase stopped at 108 for 9 from their 20 overs, losing by 23 runs.

Bowling for Top Gun, Ronnie Jeffrey snared 5 for 4 and Edson Williams 2 for 14.

Another three matches are carded for this weekend. On Saturday, Top Gun meet Victoria Village Young Future Stars, while on Sunday Rate Your Boys Challengers take on TPSS Church Road Connections, to be followed by Third World against Mix Up Moods.(RT)
