Thorpe, Hooper headline at TSSS track meet

Rojike Thorpe and Kerina Hooper were the headliners at the Thomas Saunders Secondary School track and field meet last Thursday at the Victoria Park.{{more}}

Thorpe, emerged the Senior Male Champion, as well as the Victor Ludorum and Hooper – the Senior Female Champion and Victrix Ludorum.

Thorpe of Saunders House, tallied 43 points, while Hooper of St Hill House totalled 56 points.

And, the duo was responsible for the four records which were broken.

Thorpe set a new mark in the discus throw, while Hooper established new records in the 100, 800 and 1500 metres.

The Junior Male Champion was J-Varney Smith of Jones House with 23 points. But there was a sharing of honours in the Junior Female title.

Finishing both on 18 points were Oleisha Ryan – Saunders House and Kristina Christopher – Jones House.

Taking the Intermediate Male Champion was Neilio Thomas of St Hill House with 38 points and Female Intermediate Champion was Rownesha Spencer of Saunders House – 35 points.

St Hill House (884 points) claimed the 2014 championship, dethroning 2013 winners Saunders House (821) points. Jones House docked in third with 704 points and Webb House – 590 points, at the bottom of the standings. (RT)
