Rewards shared out in NLA Over 35’s Masters Football competition

Alban Alexander and Clinton Williams were the toast of the presentation ceremony of the 2013 National Lotteries Authority SVG Over 35’s Organisation Football competition which climaxed last Friday night at the Victoria Park.{{more}}

Alexander, of fourth placed team Sun Alliance South Leeward, received the top goal scorer award and was presented the silver boots trophy. Alexander was also adjudged as his team’s most valuable player. Meanwhile, Williams, of champion team A & T Store SESCO, was voted the best goalkeeper in the competition. Also rewarded were the most valuable players of the teams which stayed the course of the competition.

The other rewardees were Curtis Joseph of SESCO, Alwyn Guy of Computec/Comsports Vincy Masters, Julian Caine of RSVG Police, Ralph Stowe of Bequia and Eric Caruth of Vintage FC.

Completing the list of most valuable players were Dwight Ragguette, African Tref, Gosnel Cupid, Calliaqua and Foster John, Layou.

The closing ceremony was addressed by president of the SVG Over 35’s Organisation Glenroy Caesar and president of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation Venold Coombs.

Caesar commended the teams which remained in the competition despite the many challenges faced.

Some teams fell by the wayside as the competition was halted prior to the 2013 Carnival celebrations in June and restarted in November, but with some teams opting out. Among those which took the option not to continue were Breakaway Masters, Sion Hill and Avenues.

The completion of the 2013 competition, which was held over to last Friday, as the SVG Over 35’s Organisation had to compete with others for the use of the Victoria Park and juggle with the executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation for the same.

The 2013 edition represented a return of the competition which was last held under the SVG Over 35’s banner in 2010.(RT)
