Greiggs Softball Cricket Competition climaxes this Sunday

The Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem/Hairoun Beer/Premium Distributors Greiggs Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Championship concludes this Sunday from 2 p.m. at the Greiggs Playing Field.{{more}}

The finalists will be determined tomorrow, Saturday, when the semi-finals are staged at the same venue.

From 11 a.m. on that day, Owia Young Strikers will meet Owia Shotters in the first, and defending champions CGM Gallagher Novice will oppose Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem One from 2 p.m.

Novice beat Clinchers by six wickets.

Clinchers 63 for 7 off 20-overs; Everton Durrant had 2 for 9 and Kentish Phillips scored 2 for 17. Novice responded with 67 for 4 off 9.3 overs; Hyron Shallow made 21. Darren Dallaway picked up 3 for 24, bowling for Clinchers. Owia Young Strikers had a five-wicket win over Combined Sixers.

Batting first, Combined Sixers scored 70 off 12.2 overs; Andrew Thomas hit 21. Casmond Walters snared 4 for 25, Rolando Wright 2 for 1, Denson Hoyte 2 for 8 and Desron Maloney 2 for 12.

Owia Young Strikers scored 74 for 5 off 11.5 overs; Casmond Walters made 28, as Asif Hooper grabbed 2 for 22.

Owia Shotters got past RSVG Police by 31 runs. Owia Shotters posted 171 for 8 off 20 overs; Dwayne Nanton cracked 74 and Omarl Lavia 57.

Bowling for Police, Malcovin Jack took 2 for 12 and Roderick John 2 for 55. Police replied with 140 for 7 off 20-overs; Salvan Browne top scored with 58.

Shem La Borde was the pick of the Owia Shotters bowlers with 3 for 10 and Omarl Lavia grabbed 2 for 32.

And, Nar Fren Dem One defeated Stallions racked up by six runs. Batting first- Nar Fren Dem One racked up 126 off 19.1 overs; Glenford Woodley hit 23. Kurlan Lavia took 3 for 12 and Umar Lavia 2 for 29.

Stallions made 120 off 16.3 overs; Junan Baptiste hit 34. Clinton Woods grabbed 4 for 9 and Cody Jarvis 3 for 28.

Preceding Sunday’s final, the third place play-off will be played from 11 a.m. The presentation ceremony will follow Sunday’s final. (RT)
