Individuals get their dues from Grenadines basketball tourney
Players who rose above and beyond their counterparts in the 2013 Digicel Grenadines Basketball Tournament had their spoils dished out to them early Sunday morning at the Clive Tannis Hard Court in Bequia.{{more}}
Standing tall was Canouan Islandersâ Warrican Garrick, who was declared the tournamentâs Most Valuable Player.
Garrickâs claim to the accolade came after he registered 103 points; he pulled down 61 rebounds and had 16 steals. Garrick also added 19 blocks and 8 assists to his individual statistics.
Garrick, in addition, had the Most Blocks â 19 and was his teamâs Most Valuable Player.
In familiar territory, Ishama Mc Kree of Mustique Icons poured in the most goals â117 and collected his teamâs Most Valuable Player trophy.
Joining in the individual spotlight was Stevorn Taylor of champions, Union Island All Stars.
Taylor had the most assists â 22 and the most steals â 21 and accepted his outfitâs Most Valuable Player award.
Meanwhile, Kirstin Lampkin compiled the Most Blocks â 19, to go with title of Most Valuable Player award for the second place and dethroned winners – Bequia All Stars.
The 2013 edition of the tournament, represented a revival after a five-year hiatus.
The tournament, which culminated in Bequia last weekend, was contested over three consecutive weekends. During the first weekend, the four teams touched down on Union Island, then travelled to Canouan on the second weekend.(RT)
