When the race took place last year, Paul â a barber by profession, groomed the field in 32 minutes, 21.04 seconds. However, this time he has only Vincentians to contend with, as regional participation is almost bald.
His toughest competitor should come from Junior âStoneâ Ashton who placed third in last yearâs race. Then, Ashton clocked 33 minutes 54.02 seconds.
Paul and Ashton had sandwiched Trinidad and Tobagoâs Denzil Ramirez, who finished second in 32 minutes 37.02 seconds.
While Paul is defending his title, last yearâs female winner – Trinidad and Tobagoâs Tonya Nero sits out the Vincentian experience this year.
However, Grenadian Kenisha Pascal who was second in 2012 will complete the duo of overseas entries.
Apart from the absence of the Trinidadians, there will be no appearance of those from the Dominican Republic who propped up the event last year.
Sundayâs road race is set to get going at 3 p.m. at Prospect and finishes in the vicinity of the RBTT Bank and CIBC First Caribbean International Bank on Halifax Street. (RT)
