ECGC, Gibson Building Supplies take Firms Football titles

Titles were shared in the Digicel/Aeropost Coreas Hazells Breakaway Masters Firms Football competition on the weekend at the Grammar School Playing Field.{{more}}

On Saturday, ECGC claimed the league title when they short circuited Vinlec Energy Savers, two goals to nil. Javed Gibson netted in the 10th minute and an own goal scored in the 30th minute gave ECGC the title.

On Sunday, Gibson’s Building Supplies took the knockout title, defeating ECGC in sudden death, on kicks from the penalty spot.

Both teams had played to a goalless draw in regulation time and were 3-3 at the end of the first round of five kicks from the spot.

In their semi-final encounter on Thursday with 2012 champions Prime Minister’s Office, Gibson’s Building Supplies won 5-4 on kicks from the penalty spot after a nil-nil tie in regulation time.

On the other hand, ECGC edged out Bonadie’s 1-nil on Friday, thanks to a Javed Gibson strike.

Both ECGC and Gibson’s Building Supplies will battle it out again this Saturday at the same venue in the champion of champions match.
