Computec/Third Eye secure Business Houses Table Tennis teams’ title
Computec/Third Eye Security easily stashed away the teamsâ title of the 2013 Scotia Bank Business Houses Table Tennis Tournament, last Saturday evening, at the West St George Secondary School.{{more}}
Facing off with Excel Media in the final, Computec Third Eye Security was dominant, winning in straight sets 3-0, which was intended to be a five-set affair.
In earning the commanding win, Harvey Graham stormed back to stop Colin Cambridge, 8/11, 12-14, 17-15, 11-4, 11-5; Alanzo Primus ousted Davon Cato 11/7, 11/9, 11/4, while Elvis Dublin disposed of Rodney Caruth 11/9, 13/11, 11/8.
Before their title match up, Computec/Third Eye Security inflicted a similar whipping on NBC Radio in the semi-finals.
Graham laced Tyrone Jack – 11/3, 11/7, Primus beat Junior Byron-Cox – 3/11, 11-9, 11-9 and Dublin defeated Mc Neil Morgan – 11/3, 11/1.
On the other hand, Excel Media handed UWI Open Campus a 3-0 drubbing.
Colin Cambridge saw off David Brown – 11/5, 11/6; Davon Cato eased past Ronnie Daniel – 11/1, 11/3 and Rodney Caruth got the better of Martin Sheen – 11/4, 11/2.
NBC Radio and UWI Open Campus were joint third place holders.
But the duo of Cambridge and Cato ensured the clean sweep of Computec/Third Eye Security on Thursday night, when they took the doubles title.
Cambridge and Cato sidelined Primus and Graham – 12/10, 11/5, 8/11, 11/7.
In the semi-finals, Cato and Cambridge beat the VINLEC pair Roland Bowman and Gary Cumberbatch – 11/7, 8/11, 11/9, 11/6, while Primus and Graham outpointed Elvis Dublin and Walter Richards – 11/9, 11/9, 6/11, 11/7.
Bowman and Cumberbatch earned the third place trophies.
The other teams which participated in the tournament were Ministry of Transport and Works, Metrolife and KPMG.
At last Saturday nightâs closing ceremony, remarks came from president of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Table Tennis Association Tyrone Jack and parliamentary representative for West St George and Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture Cecil Mc Kie. (RT)
