Attackers One remain in charge of East K/town Softball Cricket Competition

Attackers One conquered Bank of SVG All Stars by 51 runs to retain the Dover’s Electrical East Kingstown Sports Association T/20 Softball Cricket Competition last Sunday afternoon at the Grammar School Playing Field.{{more}}

And it was a Sunday afternoon walk in the park for Attackers One, as they posted 119 for 6 from their 20 overs, then dismissed All Stars for 68.

When Attackers One batted, Renrick Williams lashed 44, which included 6 sixes. Desmond Bramble, 3 for 8 and Earl Pope, 3 for 16, shared the wickets which fell.

Accounting for All Stars’ demise with the bat were Benson Hackshaw who bossed 4 for 23; Atnel Ash, 2 for 3, Ronald Medford, 2 for 17 and Cornelius Edwards, 2 for 23.

Earl Pope crashed 37, which was dotted with 4 sixes, to save the depleted batting account for All Stars.

Attackers One booked their place in the final, after inflicting a 55-run dismantling of General Hardware Richmond Hill at the same venue on Saturday in the semi-finals.

Led by a stroke filled 51 from Desron Maloney, in which he clobbered 6 sixes, and Elrico Patterson’s 23, made up of 3 sixes, Attackers One posted 139 for 4 from their 20 overs — Collin Lee snapped up 4 for 18, bowling for Richmond Hill.

Benson Hackshaw then snared 4 for 18 and Travis Cumberbatch — 2 for 6, as Richmond Hill were sent packing for 84.

In the other semi-finals, Bank of SVG All Stars eked out a two-run win over Attackers Two, to prevent an all-Attackers final.

All Stars made 86 all out and restricted Attackers Two to 84 for 7, from their allotment of 20 overs.

Richmond Hill copped the third place, as Attackers Two failed to show up for the play-off between the two losing semifinalists.

Sunday’s final was followed by a brief presentation ceremony which saw All Stars’ Kenny Stapleton cashing in on the leading run scorer award for his aggregate of 163 runs. Trailing him was Stephen Starker of Dr Thomas Injectors, who tallied 137 and Marlon Cambridge of Attackers Two — 119 runs.

The leading wicket taker was Benson Hackshaw of the champion team Attackers One for his 15 scalps.

The presentation was addressed by area representative for East Kingstown Arnhim Eustace, as well as Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture Cecil Mc Kie. (RT)
